The Faith Based Committee of the South Carolina Coalition for the Children of Military Families invites you to join us in prayer for the Children of Military families.

Speaker James Emerson Smith, Jr.

James is a 44-year-old Columbia native, married to Kirkland T. Smith of Mt. Pleasant, SC. They have three sons, James “Emerson” Smith III, age 18, Thomas Bridges Smith, age 15, Paul Bradford Smith age 10, and a daughter Shannon Elizabeth Smith age 9.

James attended the University of South Carolina and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1990, and then went on to obtain his Juris Doctor in 1995. After being admitted to the Bars of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, James began his legal career as an Associate at the firm of NELSON, MULLINS, RILEY & SCARBOROUGH in September 1995. In November of 1996, James began a solo practice and currently is the sole shareholder of his four attorney firm, JAMES E. SMITH, JR., P.A. In 1997, he was awarded the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from the University of South Carolina, in 2010 he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the University of South Carolina College of Arts and Sciences and in 1999 he was named the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyer of the Year. In his first ten years of practice, James was rated by his peers through Martindale-Hubble as “AV,” the highest awarded.

James is also President and CEO of The Congaree Group of Columbia, LLC d/b/a The Congaree Group (TCG), a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). James started TCG January 2011 to provide medical and pharmaceutical supplies, telehealth and telemedicine equipment and services to hospitals and medical facilities.

James was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in November 1996. In his first year of service he was elected to the position of Assistant Minority House Leader. James served in the position for three years before becoming the Chief Minority Whip. James was then elected House Minority Leader and served from 2002 until 2005. James was re-elected to the House in November of 2010 and currently serves as 1st Vice-Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

While maintaining his own private law practice, small business and being a member of the South Carolina House, James also serves in our Armed Forces. After 911 and serving for eight (8) years as a JAG officer in South Carolina Army National Guard, James resigned the re-enlisted to pursue a commission as an Infantry Officer. James is currently a Captain and Executive Officer of 1-118th Combined Arms Battalion. James served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan with the 218th Infantry Brigade where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart.

James has served on various non-profit boards and has volunteered with numerous civic groups including service as a Fellow – Liberty Fellowship, affiliated with the Aspen Global Leadership Initiative, Chair for the Public Policy Committee of the United Ways’ Success By 6 initiative, SC First Steps, Board Member, Prevent Child Abuse, SC, Board Member and is currently serving as a Board Member of the Alston Wilkes Society and Congaree River keeper. James and his family are members of the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia, SC and also attend Church of the Apostles in Columbia, SC.

We organize 13 members ‘ Prayer and Care Teams to respond to the Local needs of people around the world. We are building the Village of Hope in Uganda for widows and providing medical care in India for the Poor. Our prayer groups are living the two Great Commandments.

BIO: Jim Ratsch has been working in the Federal space since 1998 and within Microsoft Federal for the last six years. Within his role, he has focused on the Windows Platform and Active Directory on both reactive and proactive technical support. He has recently been focusing on Hyper-V/SCVMM and lab building, and has worked with Microsoft virtualization products since they were introduced with Microsoft's acquisition of Connectix.

During this session we will dive into the latest release of the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2012. We'll discuss new features and walk through the process of constructing your own image development lab.

BIO: Howard Carter is a Desktop Deployment Consultant focused on large scale Windows 7 image engineering and deployments. He's currently working with several federal customers to modernize their desktop management and deployment strategies.

BIO: Reggie Gibson is a Microsoft Consultant currently focused on technologies from the Microsoft System Center Suite and Datacenter Services solutions. He has implemented several Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructures and recently supported a customer with a desktop deployment using Configuration Manager integrated with MDT. With 10+ years of DoD and Federal experience, he is presently supporting multiple customers across the Public Sector space.

Housekeeping steps needed to cleanup your old environment in preparation of an SCCM 2012 migration.

BIO: Wayne Miller is a senior consultant with 12 years' experience with SCCM/SMS. Clients have included several federal government agencies. While working for a defense contractor he worked in metropolitan area with approximately 6,000 clients. The environment grew to a 15,000 client SMS 2003 implementation due to multiple successes. Wayne also led a federated team that developed processes and procedures that lead to the eventual creation of a 70,000 client SCCM environment.

Configuration Manager and Forefront EndPoint Protection, Kevin Kasalonis
This session will show CM Administrators how to setup and configure FEP in a CM07 environment. We will create and modify policies, assign polices to collections, deploying the Forefront Clients, monitor deployment, and see how to configure alerts. We will review the methods included in FEP 2010 Update 1 to automate the deployment of definitions.
